Number 4 was the only child of Numbers 10 and 14, before they divided and decided to add themselves to other numbers. Number 4 grew up knowing she'd never really rank, and while she hunted around for her 1 and only guy, she kept coming up with 0s. Her best buddy, 2, was a second-rate pal, and 4 always thought there was more to life than keeping count, but didn't know how to break the system. Everyone around her wanted her to measure up to her peers, and they counted on her to be a perfect 10, even though she knew she was barely a 4.
1 day, on the 13th of the 4th month of the 2011th year A.C., 4 met 100.
100 worked as an accountant, forced to keep track of everyone and everything financially. 100 was a little older than 4, and he didn't have time for soul searching--only number crunching. But when 4 asked 100 if he ever 'felt, like, truly 100 percent,' 100 paused, and thought. He did the math in his head, then realized that, some day, he really didn't feel like himself. He sometimes only felt like 50, or even 25. 100, like most people, and like 4, felt like a low number once in a awhile. 4 asked him what they could do about their subtraction. 100 came up with an idea.
Whenever they needed to perform a little addition to themselves, he and 4 would do something super crazy. ....
Tune in tomorrow for more number/chapter 2!
